When going on a cruise for the first time it does not have to be daunting. Cruising does not have to cost a fortune. The price includes food, accommodation, evening entertainment and flights. There are several types of cruise from the Caribbean, Mediterranean Baltic, Alaskan and Antarctic.
- Families – you are well catered for, not just the food. When choosing a cruise for the family the basic rule should be ‘the bigger the cruise ship the better’. As these ships have kids clubs, babysitting service, multiple dining options and activities for all kids’ ages. There are spas and golf driving ranges, climbing walls for the whole family, swimming pools and other services catering to the children’s needs. The environment on a cruise ship is safe and contained enough that there is not need to worry.
- Couples – You can get married on a cruise line as the captain can legally perform the service. The only restriction is that you must be in a port or no more than 3 miles from land. Most cruise liners will arrange the whole ceremony for you, including photo albums. On a cruise ship you can mingle with the other guests or stay in your cabin, relax on the balcony and have all your meals brought to your cabin, the choice is yours.
- Mature Travellers – The more traditional cruise suits the older traveller, where the formal dining is the norm. A mid-sized ship is cosier and usually a child free ship as kids clubs are not available. Top destinations for such cruises are Norway, Northern Europe, the Baltic’s and the Caribbean.
- Long Cruises – Retired travellers or those who can afford to leave others in charge while away can pick from round the world cruises taking in the Far East, and the Americas. Round the world cruise is the ultimate in cruising and usually last anywhere from four weeks to three months and these cruises take in just about every type of destination thinkable.
